Hazel Turnbull, our area governor, spoke with us concerning our goals and other issues. Her next visit will be in November.
I. Goals for Distinguished Club Program:
1. Listing the goals for the DCP. Figuring out who is close to achieving an award, and encouraging them to complete the award.
2. As of August 29, 2009, 7 new members had joined to Dogwood Toastmasters.
II.Suggestions:
1. Consider including the time on agenda. This will allow the Toastmaster to manage the flow of the meeting.
2. The Toastmaster should consider giving a brief summary of the meeting structure so that expectations can be set for the new members and guests.
3. The progress of each member should be included in the agenda of each meeting.
4. Encouraging to form a committee for easily processing the next office holder.
III. Recommendations for action:
1. Cory Issue. He would be a good candidate for the Youth Leadership program.
2. All officers should consider forming committees to help with minor (ie. room set-up, scheduling of mentors, website updates) duties of their position.
Meeting Summary:
1. Discussing the feedback Jack has received on his recent changes to our website.
2. The club now has $863.36 surplus. The membership dues are still $39 totally, and $27.00 is for TM International, and $12.00 is for Dogwood club. The deadline will be October 1st, 2009.
3. In November, we would vote on the awards for the best TM of 2009, and then we would present these awards in January 2010.
4. We passed the agreement about Cory situation. Cory will be the guest of a member who will join the club and pay dues.
5. Thinking about the awards banquet to celebrate the accomplishments of our members.
6. TM pins were placed order by Sharyn( Treasurer), and Bob mentioned that Icebreaker award ribbon was out of stock and they need to be ordered.
7. John Cargile will represent I-85 area to attend 2009 Division Humorous Speech Contest.
